"Our dedication to environmental sustainability is evident through the significant progress we have made towards our 2024 goals," said Joanne Barratt, Managing Director of The Venues Collection. "These achievements underscore our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our venues and the events we host. A venue has a significant role to play in ensuring events are as sustainable as possible; organisers choose TVC venues because they can be sure we are doing everything we can to help them to create more sustainable events."
The Future First Charter is a framework designed to shape and deliver the Group's social purpose initiatives and targets. With a focus on People Pledge, Food Focus, and Enriching Environments, The Venues Collection continues to lead the way in sustainable hospitality practices.
The Venue Collection’s sustainable credentials also include attaining the 'silver' level in the Green Tourism 'Green Meetings' Standard, the world's largest sustainable certification program and achieving Venue Directory’s Green Accreditation. The Group was also the first to introduce carbon labelling on all menus (June 2022) and has a commitment to reach Climate Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

CHS Birmingham is expecting another increase in visitor numbers this year and, with attendees again asking for more variety, innovation, and education, the show’s organisers are already feeling confident for the event and the industry.
The show, which has grown its attendee numbers every year since its inception, is expecting this number to continue to rise as more and more event organisers look to find services and solutions for their events at trade shows. In addition, feedback from buyers has shown that there is an urgency to fill RFPs and enquiries at the event, and to walk away with services secured.
Speaking on the early boost in registration figures, Lou Hindley, Commercial Director, CHS Birmingham, commented; “We know as a team that we can’t rest on our laurels, despite this positivity. We need to continue to give our visitors new reasons to come to our show, but for now, we’re seeing a lot of new, as well as repeat buyer registrations, and it’s giving us a lot of confidence.”
The show recently launched its educational strategy, which focuses on both the skills and the attitudes needed to be a modern-day event planner. At the same time, the event is also collaborating with exhibitors to work with event organisers to find the quickest solutions for their events by confirming dates, services and rates at the event.
“We have quickly learnt what event organisers want by continually listening to their feedback at our events; right now it’s all about quick and accurate information from venues and event suppliers. They want to solve their enquiry or RFP rapidly to get the best possible available solution,” continued Lou. “This is why our show, and others like us, are so popular, and why we’re working with all of our stakeholders to make the event as productive as possible for everyone.”
