The Old Ship Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the vibrant city of Brighton, with parts of the building dating back to 1559. Standing proudly on the seafront of this historic city, the hotel is perfectly placed to put business and leisure visitors at the heart of the action with a plethora of local attractions in walking distance; like the Royal Pavilion with its distinctive Indian architecture, the ultra-modern British Airways i360 offering panoramic views across the south cost and the designer boutiques and shops in The Lanes, where independent stores mix effortlessly with traditional shopping areas to offer something different for all.
The hotel has played an integral part in the city’s history and it’s main function rooms form part of the original Brighton Assembly Rooms and date back 250 years. Now Grade II listed, many grand occasions were held in the main Ballroom, including the Prince Regent’s Ball in 1819 and later a recital by the world famous violinist Nicolo Paganini in 1831, after whom the Ballroom was subsequently named. Interlinking with the Regency Suite these beautifully maintained rooms continue to offer true grandeur as well as flexibility to suit events up to 250 guests. A variety of smaller rooms cater for lesser numbers and if you are looking for a more intimate space, the restored Wine Cellars and Bar allows for a unique private dining experience.
Now newly refurbished, The Wardroom Restaurant brings the diner right up to date with a menu based on international cuisine coupled with British classics, whilst the bar and lounge seating spill out onto the seafront terrace in the warmer months, giving that ‘outside in’ feeling while you watch the world go by. Leisure activities surround the hotel, although for a quick ‘gym fix’, hotel residents can use the residents’ only facility during their say.
Now part of The Cairn Collection, this 154 bedroomed 4* hotel is an old favourite, which has been modernised and changed to accommodate the modern business traveller so if you have not viewed the hotel in a while – you will be surprised!
