Crowne Plaza Newcastle Celebrates 10 Years of Events Impact

The Crowne Plaza Newcastle is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week, marking a decade as one of the city’s leading hotels for meetings and events, over a million guests, and its place as a proud partner in Newcastle’s continued growth as a business events destination. Since opening in 2015, the hotel has become a trusted ally for event planners, and over 1 million guests, as showcase of the very best of Newcastle and the wider Northeast region. Some of its highlights include the hosting of blue-chip brands such as BP, who were one of the hotel’s earliest partners, to Construction Excellence in the Northeast, who have continued to return over eight years. At the same time, the hotel has been a go-to home for charity events, from the Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue, International Sports Tournament, to the Children’s Heart Unit Fund Christmas Party, and Children Northeast charity ball, who have returned for six and five years respectively. “This anniversary isn’t just about us as a hotel, it’s about Newcastle and the many people who have helped make this city such a draw for conferences and meetings,” said Paul Borg, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Newcastle. “We see ourselves as part of the city’s welcome and its community. We host large national and international events, but we also love to support local communities and charities. It means something to everyone here, and everyone connected to the hotel.” Over the last decade, the Crowne Plaza Newcastle has become more than just a venue. It has acted as a gateway to the city, attracting thousands of delegates and supporting organisers to integrate local culture, knowledge and hospitality into their programmes. Within the hotel itself is a team that defines the region’s character: warm, approachable, and ambitious for both its clients and its city. “The Crowne Plaza Newcastle continues to be an integral part of the city's meetings and events offer,” said Laura Freer, Assistant Director of Visitor Economy at NewcastleGateshead Initiative. “For the past 10 years, it has welcomed delegates from across the UK and beyond with a winning mixture of warmth and professionalism. Our partnership with the hotel is a strong one, and one that recognises the importance of the business events sector as a key driver in the growth of our visitor economy. We look forward to collaborating for years to come as we continue to put Newcastle on the international map.” Ten years on, the Crowne Plaza Newcastle remains the city’s go-to meetings hotel. But its outlook is firmly forward-facing, with a renewed commitment to event organisers, a passion for Newcastle, and an ambition to continue connecting people, place and purpose through meetings and events.

Arena Racing Company Unveils ‘Christmas Live Lounge’ Concept as Demand Grows for Laid-back Celebrations

Arena Racing Company (ARC), the UK's largest racecourse group, has launched a Christmas Live Lounge at Newcastle Racecourse for the 2024 corporate festive party season. ARC's new shared party concept promises to revolutionise the traditional Christmas party experience. A New Era of Christmas Parties Christmas Live Lounge will provide a relaxed atmosphere and a unique party vibe, with local bands and DJs for entertainment and Christmas-themed Street food, perfect for those seeking a less formal, yet highly enjoyable evening. Set in the iconic Grandstand Hall at Newcastle Racecourse, the event will accommodate around 500 guests for one night only on 14 December with performances from three top local bands and DJs, all renowned for playing in popular local pubs and clubs. These acts will rotate throughout the night, ensuring a continuous stream of fantastic music and dancing. Unlike traditional Christmas parties, the Christmas Live Lounge features a bench-style seating arrangement and street food that guests can enjoy throughout the night with mouth-watering options including a hog roast and turkey baps, perfect for any palate. In addition to Christmas Live Lounge, ARC will be offering an innovative range of both shared and private corporate Christmas party options at its 21 venues and 16 premier racecourses across the UK. For example, Doncaster Racecourse has already announced its plans for a series of Christmas LIVE events, featuring a night at the movies with classic tunes such as Moulin Rouge’s Lady Marmalade to Mama Mia’s Dancing Queen. The venue will also be transformed into an 80’s and 90’s disco for one night only with a famous guest DJ and festive street food. Other Christmas party celebrations across ARC’s venues include thrilling race days, hospitality packages, themed party nights, high-end dinners, and team-building activities, such as wreath-making workshops. Commenting on the new Live Lounge concept, Paul Elliott, Executive Director at Newcastle Racecourse, said: "We wanted to create an event that is more intimate and less formal that focuses on having fun. While there is still demand for formal gatherings, there is a growing trend for laid-back corporate events, especially as street food continues to gain popularity. Many are looking for an alternative, something fresh and different, without the pressure of a dress code, and we believe the Christmas Live Lounge fills that gap perfectly and enhances our extensive Christmas Party Programme across our venues nationwide."
