From intimate events with just 50 people, right through to large exhibitions, conferences, gala dinners and symposiums up to 7,000 delegates, Winter Gardens has venues to suit any requirements.

A range of spaces

At Winter Gardens, we pride ourselves on the broad range of choices we can offer to event organisers.

We’re incredibly flexible and our clients can book single venues or combine multiple spaces to create a larger offering. Each of our spaces has its own unique style and features, many of which are steeped in history and provide the perfect backdrop to all types of events.

Add some personality to your next event by holding it in one of our many fantastic venues, all available at incredibly competitive rates.

Small Rooms (50 - 350 guests)

We have 3 small rooms for more intimate events. Including Baronial Hall with its Jacobean style banqueting suite, Derham Lounge and the Renaissance Room.

Medium Rooms (350 - 1000 guests)

For events that larger capacities, we have the popular Arena, stylish Spanish Hall and the oldest venue at Winter Gardens Blackpool, Pavilion and Horseshoe.

Large Rooms (1000 - 7000 guests)

We’ve got the iconic Empress Ballroom, Opera House and Olympia Exhibition Hall, as well as our brand new Conference and Exhibition Centre.

The Pavillion & Horseshoe
Max Capacity 900

With a maximum capacity of 900, the Pavillion and Horseshoe is a superb mid-sized venue and is frequently used for conferences and demonstrations. It can accommodate up to 500 seated guests, making it ideal for talks, conferences, and dinners.

The Pavilion and Horseshoe sits centrally between the Olympia Exhibition Centre and the Arena and can be used in conjunction with these venues for large capacity events.

Venue features

-The Pavilion and Horseshoe is most often used as a presentation theatre and exhibition zone.

-Light, sound and stage is available for the space.

-Street access is available via the Floral Hall.

The Empress Ballroom
Max Capacity 3000

The venue is perhaps most well known for regularly hosting the annual party conferences of the big three political parties in the UK, Labour, the Conservatives, and the Liberal Democrats, throughout the late 20th century.

With a maximum capacity of 3000, the Empress is a very flexible space. Its layout can be arranged to suit the needs of any event. It is possible to customise the space with various seating arrangements, as well as utilising the venue as an exhibition space where delegates are free to walk around and explore.

The Empress can also be used in conjunction with our other conference and events venues and is also directly linked to the Olympia Exhibition Centre.

Venue features

-The Empress Ballroom has 3 levels including two balconies and the main floor which is fully sprang.

-A stage is present situated midway on the south wall with a 9m proscenium and 6m depth. This can be removed or extended as required.

-Sound, lighting and rigging are available.

The Arena
Max Capacity 1000

As one of the more flexible venues in the complex, the Arena can be utilised for almost any type of event, although it is mostly used as a reception room within large events, such as conferences and awards ceremonies.

In total, the Arena can accommodate up to 1000 guests. It is directly accessible from the Empress Ballroom, with the two venues often being used in unison within dynamic multi-venue events.

Venue features

-The Arena sits adjacent to the Empress Ballroom and can be used in conjunction as a breakout -space or in isolation for a wide range of events.

-The venue boasts a dedicated sound room and breakout spaces.

-The Arena can be accessed directly from street level for load-ins.

The Opera House
Max Capacity 2813

The Opera House is an ideal venue for conferences, presentations, and seminars, thanks to its traditional seating layout, which is split across three levels. Stall seats are located directly in front of the stage, and additional seating can be found in the circle and balcony areas. All seats have a fantastic view of the stage, ensuring guests will always have a great view of what’s happening.

The Opera House is also equipped with modern audio and visual technology. It features one of the largest digital cinema screens in the north-west, as well a state of the art surround sound system – perfect for bringing any presentation to life.

Venue features

-The Opera House Blackpool boasts one of the UK’s largest auditoriums with a capacity of 2,813 over 3 levels.

-It also features one of the widest proscenium arches in the world at 13,716mm wide and 9,140mm high.

-The stage features a 1/36 rake and orchestra pit when required.

-The venue In isolation boasts 17 dressing rooms.

The Spanish Hall
Max Capacity 700

The Spanish Hall was initially designed for use as a fine dining and afternoon tea venue. However, its role has now expanded, and the venue can also host conferences and exhibitions. With a total capacity of 700, the Spanish Hall is a great venue for medium-sized events.

The Spanish Hall also has access to our brand new, fully equipped kitchen, making an ideal venue for business dinners and private functions.

Venue features

-The Spanish Hall is the largest of the Spanish Suite and ideal for conferences, meetings, AGM’s and more.

-Lighting, sound and some rigging is available within the venue. To discuss technical requirements, please contact us.

The Baronial Hall

The Baronial Hall is a stunning, small-to-medium sized venue, styled like a Jacobean banqueting suite. Similar to the Renaissance Room, it is another example of one of the more intimate venues the Winter Gardens complex has to offer.

The medieval stylings of the room adds a memorable charm to any event and always proves to be a notable talking point amongst guests.

With a total capacity of 300, the Baronial Hall is an ideal venue for dinners, receptions, and private functions. It comes with access to a state of the art kitchen, which is capable of supplying exquisite meals and refreshments for all guests. If you are looking for a dining venue with a difference, the Baronial Hall is absolutely perfect.

The Renaissance Room

It is one of the smaller venues the Winter Gardens has to offer. It is typically used as a dining room, as well as a reception area if utilised as part of a multi-venue setup.

With a total capacity of 200 seated guests, the Renaissance Room is well suited to hosting intimate events. Often used for business lunches, dinners, and banquets, the Renaissance Room comes with access to an extensive, fully equipped kitchen which can supply drinks, refreshments, and meals for all guests.

Venue features

-The well-appointed Renaissance Room is most often used as a meeting and exhibition space.

-Whilst no rigging is present, freestanding light and sound solutions can be supplied.

-The venue is located on the second floor accessed via stairs or lift.

The Olympia

In total, there is 2,600 square metres of space on offer within the Olympia Exhibition Centre. This provides ample room for stands, stalls, and demonstrations.

The Olympia is also directly linked to the Empress Ballroom, Arena, and Pavilion Theatre venues. The venue can be used independently or can be used in conjunction with these additional venues for even more flexibility.

Noteworthy events, such as political party and trade union conferences have all taken place at the Olympia Exhibition Centre.

-Olympia is the largest of our exhibition spaces, based over 2 levels.

-Direct access is available from street level with doors wide enough for cars and vans to gain access.

It now serves as a multi-purpose room, having been stripped back to its original state, resulting in one of the smaller, more intimate spaces the Winter Gardens has to offer.

Overall, the venue has a capacity of 300. It is commonly used as a smaller venue within large conferences, but can also be used as a compact and independent events space for small events, such as drinks receptions.

-The Derham Lounge can be accessed from street level and boasts public entrances both from the building and street level.

-Whilst no rigging is present, freestanding sound and light solutions can be provided.

-The space is most often used as an exhibition and meeting space.

Conference and Exhibition Centre
Max Capacity 2000

The venue will feature state of the art amenities necessary for hosting modern conferences and exhibitions, including the latest audio and visual technology.

The Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre is one of the largest venues of its kind in the north of England. It is split over two floors, with exhibition space on first floor and a conference space with a capacity of 2000 on the second floor.

With a total 2400 square metres of dedicated space, the venue can easily host large events. It is also possible to utilise the space in conjunction with the other venues throughout the Winter Gardens complex, giving a total event capacity of 7000.

It is ideally suited for conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, AGMs, and any other large scale event.

-The new Blackpool Conference and Exhibition Centre has been designed to link seamlessly with the current Winter Gardens venues, whilst also having the ability to be used in isolation.
