Although you might think Reading in Berkshire is worthy of city status, it’s actually only a large town. However, what it lacks in title, it more than makes up for with its thriving commercial centre and a host of great business venues that are extremely appealing to event organisers. The surrounding Thames Valley countryside is perfectly suited to outdoor pursuits, but alongside great team building venues, you’ll also find dozens of top-quality meeting rooms, conference venues, function rooms, and party venues. Reading couldn’t really be in a better location, basking its proximity to London (36 miles to its east), Basingstoke (14 miles to its south), Swindon (24 miles to its west), and Oxford (24 miles to its north). The town is well-served by a number of airports around the capital, including Heathrow (40 minutes away via the M4), Luton (50 minutes away via the M1), Gatwick (one hour’s drive via the M23, M25, and M4), and Stansted (90 minutes away via the M11, M25, and M4). There are also a number of regional and InterCity train services, as well as National Express buses, that can get you to Reading quickly and easily from almost anywhere in the country. Should you choose to drive to the region, just take Junction 11 of the M4 East (if you’re heading across from Bristol and South Wales) or the M4 West (if you’re coming from London).
