Unless you live or work in close proximity to it, Rutland is one of those places that most people don’t really know much about. It’s actually a county in central England, that’s land-locked by Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Peterborough, and Northamptonshire. It’s actually very tiny (only 18 miles, by 17 miles), but that’s part of what makes it extra-special. Even the county council’s motto – Multum in Parvo – means “much in little,” and that’s certainly true. Its county town is Oakham, and the other main town is Uppingham, both of which have some gems when it comes to party venues, function rooms, meeting rooms and conference venues. Choose this area for your next event, and you’ll have the added advantage of seeing some of the most picturesque countryside in England. Rutland Water is a breathtaking nature reserve, and key features of the county’s history include limestone, ironstone, and thatched cottages.
