Up-and-coming fashion designer Huishan Zhang showcased his Ready To Wear Fall 2017 collection, which took which took cues from French bohemian dressing, at Church House Westminster yesterday (February 20) as part of London Fashion Week (LFW).

The show, which was broadcast around the world via a live stream on the LFW website, took advantage of the venue’s spacious Assembly Hall, with models taking to a catwalk which circulated the entire room wearing a variety of beautifully worked lace dresses, graphic patterned knitwear and two piece ensembles. The company has been providing backstage security and looking after the integrity of visiting clients, artists and performers for 14 years. Currently it provides security services to venues such as SSE Wembley Arena to major UK music festivals including Secret Garden Party and Wilderness to community events around London. Titled “My journey: from actor to award-winning cheesemaker and chef”, Wilson’s keynote will share the ups and downs as he followed his passion and made such a life changing transition. Wilson is now the brains behind The Saddleworth Cheese Company and the author of the popular Great Northern Cookbook, but for two decades the former actor was better known for playing Martin Platt in Coronation Street – the nation’s favourite soap. With the opening of Leeds newest dedicated conferencing facility on the horizon, Well Met are considering the final touches to the historic Cloth Hall Court site with its heritage led interior design and state-of-the-art facilities.

The building was originally constructed for the purpose of trading cloth, specifically ‘Yorkshire Broadcloths’, which were cheap, good quality cloths that were produced in the surrounding areas.

These specialised cloths formed the fabric of the city, as Leeds quickly gained traction in its status as a centre for commerce and trade in the wool and cloth industries. Continue reading

More needs to be done by event organisers to encourage participation in meetings, according to research carried out by Imago Venues.

Whilst gaining knowledge, building relationships and learning from peers and colleagues rank highly as reasons why people commit their time to attending meetings, the results show that just 51% of delegates and 37% of students feel fully encouraged to take part, highlighting that more needs to be done to make the experience worthwhile for them. The Barbican is set for another year of success with £1million worth of event enquiries received each week, every week for the first few weeks of 2017. This success sees the flagship City of London arts and conference venue maintain its 2016 figures.

During 2016, £2.2million was invested into the facilities at the Barbican to strengthen its position as Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue. A total of £644,000 alone has been spent on redesigning and refurbishing the Frobisher Suite and Level 4 of the venue. Continue reading
