Trio of Female Southern White Rhinos at Longleat Safari Park
Longleat is playing a vital role in a last ditch international race to save the world’s rarest rhino from extinction.
The northern white rhino (Ceratotherium simum cottoni), whose wild population was estimated in the thousands as recently as 1960, was virtually wiped out in the 2000s due to poaching.
Today only three individuals are left; an elderly male and two females. All three are kept under strict armed security at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya.
The last remaining male, Sudan, is now 43 years old and reaching the end of his life. Both surviving females have medical problems which prevent them from conceiving naturally. Continue reading

The inaugural Hire Space Awards are to take place at Landing Forty Two, at the Leadenhall Building on 24th October 2017, it has been announced.

Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry
The bedroom refurbishment is well underway and we are hoping to have our first phase of bedrooms fully complete by next week. Since the first update it has been a military operation, new carpets have been laid, bedrooms have been painted and new furniture arriving. If you have ever watched the 60-minute make over it is like that but a much larger scale with all 166 bedrooms and corridors!
You would never know there is a refurbishment taking place, apart from the few skips at the front as the large maintenance team involved are doing a fantastic job. Continue reading
Europe’s Oldest Silverback Gorilla Nico Celebrates 56th Birthday At Longleat Safari Park
Nico the western lowland gorilla is celebrating his 56th birthday at Longleat Safari Park this weekend.
It’s believed Nico is the oldest silverback gorilla in Europe and the second oldest male gorilla in the world.
The special occasion is being marked by his keepers who have provided him with a selection of presents, a card and tasty gifts including a birthday cake made out of bananas and courgettes with some carrot candles.
“It’s not easy to come up with new gifts for Nico but we know what he likes and so we gave him a variety of tasty treats to help him celebrate,” said keeper Mark Tye.
“Although he is now a very old man, Nico’s is still extremely active and in amazingly good condition considering his age. Continue reading
Recent research undertaken by Lane End Conference Centre, a Buckinghamshire based conference venue, reveals that a staggering 75% of those making an event booking, do not class themselves as a professional events planner.
From a sample of 122 people who book events from 10 to 500 people on a regular basis at the venue only 24.59% described themselves as a professional meeting, conference or event planner.
Given the venues training focused facilities it was unsurprising that a further 9.84% are professional speakers or trainers whilst PAs, who have long been recognised as key buyers, make up 21.31%. Continue reading
Trinity Event Solutions’ Jacqui Kavanagh
The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) has appointed Trinity Event Solutions as their venue finding partner for a three year period. The contract was awarded following a five way pitch and is estimated to include an average of 140 venue bookings each year.
Trinity will be sourcing and booking UK and International venues and handling multiple level negotiation support for the Institute. Rockingham Motor Speedway’s Motorsport Medics
A team of medics is swapping their ambulance for a rally car this summer to help raise money for charity.
The colleagues from Meditech Global based at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, have formed the Medrock Allstars and will be competing in the annual Two Ball Banger Rally, which sees teams competing against each other over four-days.
Following the original route, the event starts in France on Friday, August 18 and takes in nine different countries in just four days! Passing through Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Monte Carlo before finishing in Nice. Continue reading
