Trio Of ‘Unicorn’ Calves Born At Longleat

Oryx Calves at Longleat

A trio of ‘extinct’ antelope whose extraordinary horns are believed to have been the origin of the unicorn myth have been born at Longleat Safari Park.

The scimitar horned oryx calves, two females and a male, were born over the last month and all three are doing well.

Originally from North Africa, the antelope is thought to have gone extinct in the wild in 1999 – due to a combination of hunting and loss of habitat.

The Wiltshire Safari Park is part of an international captive breeding programme for the species with numbers worldwide now thought to be in excess of 1,500. Continue reading

Whilst innovation continues to be a focus at Lane End Conference Centre, a recent study carried out amongst its clients and prospect event organisers, has revealed that venues need to maintain a balance when providing equipment for meetings and events. Unsurprisingly, 96.72% of bookers require Wi-Fi however a 90.16% still require a flipchart and 65.57% still require an overhead projector (OHP).

The research was carried out using a sample of 122 event bookers, and has helped the venue to further understand what trainers and delegates really require when it comes to providing equipment and technology.

In order to cater for all requirements, Lane End Conference Centre offers state-of-the-art technology in its main conference suites, which are fully equipped with flipcharts, ceiling mounted projectors and wall-mounted plasma screens as standard – to cover all eventualities. Continue reading

An ongoing study carried out by Lane End Conference Centre, a Buckinghamshire based venue, has revealed that event bookers are more interested in free Wi-Fi than its capabilities.

The research, which is an ongoing project, was carried out amongst 122 Lane End clients to help the venue to further understand what trainers and delegates deem important when it comes to Wi-Fi. A staggering 86% of bookers ask if the Wi-Fi is free but fail to ask how effective the Wi-Fi actually is. The study shows that;
• 86.07% of bookers ask if Wi-Fi is free
• 34.43% of bookers ask the upload and download speed of the Wi-Fi
• 31.97% of bookers ask if extra Wi-Fi capacity can be made available

Church House Westminster reacts to venue finding changes

Church House Westminster

Church House Westminster

In the last eight years, there has been an 142.5% increase in the number of email enquiries received by Church House Westminster, which it says reflects how much venue finding for events has changed.

In line with this shift, and as part of Church House Westminster’s rebrand last year, it’s website was revamped in order to make it easier for visitors to access information. Further improvements have been made with the latest addition being a new 3D ‘Dollshouse’ video which provides event organisers with an insider’s view of the venue and its flexible event spaces.

In 2009, 79.7% of enquiries came in via telephone by 2016 this only made up 39.3% of enquiries. In comparison, email enquiries have risen from 20.3% to 60.7%. Alongside this, there are almost 6,000 visitors to the website each month and overall goal completions have increased by 20.6%.

General Manager Robin Parker says the figures show the need for venues to have a website with good information. Continue reading
