Longleat and Cheddar Gorge & Caves have confirmed they are closed to visitors with immediate effect. The move follows updated recommendations on public health and social distancing. In addition to both attractions being closed to visitors, Longleat has taken the decision to restrict access to other areas of the Estate including Heaven’s Gate and Shearwater.
From Friday, 20th March Longleat is changing its working practice in light of the ongoing coronavirus situation. The Safari Park Drive-through will remain open to visitors as normal; while Longleat House, the walkthrough animal areas and other attractions are temporarily closed.
A Critically Endangered pancake tortoise has been born at Longleat. The tiny tortoise, which weighs just 17 grams and is only slightly larger than a 50 pence coin, is part of a captive breeding programme for the increasingly rare species at the Wiltshire safari park.
