19/02/24 ROUNDHOUSE REPORTS ON 11% INCREASE IN BOOKINGS ’23 – ‘24

The north London Camden venue is proving that there is a steady growth of confidence in the industry with an increase in a wide variety of event contracts from 2022/23 – 2024. Bookings are such that availability for popular dates from September this year are proving hard to find.

Head of events Rhiân Pressley said “we have definitely turned a corner and organisers are now reverting to longer lead times. We’re advising anyone with a specific date in mind to book at least 12 months in advance as we’re looking at a 42% increase next year in confirmed contracts as it is. However, there is good news for organisers, we aren’t at capacity and have availability in Spring this year and next.”

This is partly due to an ever-increasing roster of returning clients and major events such as the London Football Awards on 29th February, the Attitude Awards in October and the Just Giving Awards in September. Major organisations including Women in Rail, The British Council, The British Film Institute, ASOS and Team GB all have gala events booked. Plus, Fuerza Bruta returns with the show ‘Aven’ from 9th July – 31st August, and a smattering of private parties and weddings are also diarised. The live music schedule has also expanded and there will be more than 100 gigs staged throughout the year.

Pressley continued “With a high calibre of returning clients, it shows that the team and venue consistently deliver well-produced events. Roundhouse is recognised as a venue that is respected and trusted by major institutions from a wide range of industries.”

Last year saw a number of firsts with the inaugural Rolling Stone UK Awards which returns for a second year in November. The BBC hosted a performance by Rick Astley, HBO threw a wrap party and the first comedy festival saw two weeks of stand-up with comic greats including Dylan Moran, Katherine Ryan and Fern Brady.

Pressley finalised by saying “this is such a positive outlook for the industry, other venues are also experiencing the same regarding confirmed bookings and lead times. Long may it continue.”

    The Meetings Show, the UK’s leading event that brings together the world’s meetings and events community, is seeking submissions for its 2024 content programme.?

    Industry experts and thought leaders, who can passionately share insight and talk engagingly about current trends, are invited to put forward proposals for this year’s sessions.

    Submissions are also welcomed from professionals outside the MICE sector whose expertise can inspire event professionals and add value to their working lives.

    Returning to ExCeL London on 19 and 20 June 2024, the knowledge programme will be split across four key themes – Inform, Inspire, Innovate and Impact.

    Each session will ensure visitors leave the show feeling enriched with knowledge they didn’t know they needed, empowered to think, connect, plan and live differently alongside innovation to do and be better and connections with relevant industry colleagues.

    Curated in partnership with The Attendee Experience Company (atex), this year’s programme will include 28 sessions over the two days and submissions are welcome for either the allotted 30- or 45-minute sessions.  

    Jack Marczewski, portfolio event director, Northstar Meetings Group, said: “The Meetings Show’s content sessions consistently receive positive feedback and are always extremely popular as they provide value and learning to all who attend.

    “To maintain the quality and integrity of our programme, once again we’ll be particularly looking for fresh and custom sessions that haven’t been delivered anywhere else before. In addition to the content, we’ll also be prioritising those sessions that demonstrate innovation in their delivery and outcome.

    “So, if you’re an event industry expert with an exciting content idea or a successful case study to showcase in a unique way, we’d love to hear from you!”??

    Those looking to participate in this year’s programme should provide a proposed title and, in a brief, clear and concise paragraph, offer a brief synopsis of what delegates will discover. Consideration should also be given to the format and presentation and whether the power of storytelling, discussion and input might be more impactful for attendees.

  • 12/02/24 CHS Leeds Launches Educational Programme for 2024

    CHS Leeds have announced speakers and content for its award-winning educational seminars which will take place at The Royal Armouries, 23rd April. The programme will be one of the most comprehensive guides to organising modern events, with an A-Z, available to delegates, produced by the speakers live at the event.

    Beginning with ‘Event Organising 101’, presented by Neil Thompson, The Delegate Wranglers, Louisa O’Connor, SEEN Presents and Justine Bruce, QHotels Collection, and finishing with a challenging session on Accessibility from Orla Pearson, MyClearText Ltd and Acessloop, the sessions will summarise key take away points and add them to a working compendium that will be shared with all delegates at the end of the day.

    Also adding their expertise to the day will be Sam Stimpson from sls360, who will be speaking on Resilience, while Felicia Asiedu from Cvent will be sharing insight into AI, the Changing Face of Event Tech and how this is affecting modern events. There then follows a highly entertaining and interactive session with Alison Griffin, Telford International Centre, who will talk about how modern marketing is now hitting all the senses, from ASMR to taste and smell, and how event planners can tap into these innovations to upscale their own event marketing.
